She is here, and the world is better :)....Olivia's birth story

Our plan during this pregnancy was to try for a VBAC if Olivia decided to come before her due date. Otherwise, we were scheduled for a c-section on the 23rd. Our last Dr.'s appointment was on Tuesday and I hadn't made any progress. I hadn't had any contractions and I was still only dialated to about 1cm. We decided to go ahead with the c-section. I went to the hospital to do all of my registration and bloodwork, and Mike and I both went to work. We met my parents for dinner at O'Charleys and then went home to relax. We all watched some TV, put Liam to bed, and then Mike and I headed to bed a little after 10. I'd been crampy all day, but had still never had any contractions. I woke up at about 3:00am and noticed some bleeding. Not long after I started having some contractions. Not super painful, but I was definitely having them! Sounds crazy I'm sure, but I never had any contractions that I could feel, and I always sort of felt like I missed out. I was pretty sure that it wasn't real labor, but we decided to go ahead and go in to the hospital just to make sure everything was ok. (Just arriving at the hospital...40w2d) We got all checked in and put on the monitors by about 4:30am. (We had to be in at 7am anyway for pre-op stuff). No one ever checked me, but I was having contractions about 6 minutes apart. The nurses started my IV and we just kept an eye on the baby for the next few hours. During that time the contractions started tapering off, and were getting farther apart, so we started preparing for the c-section. They took me back to the OR right before 8:30...Mike decided to wait outside while I got my spinal (He hates needles!!) but he did watch from the window....

As soon as they were done, Mike came back in. I was so nervous right up until that point, and for some reason, as soon as Mike was back with me, I was very relaxed and really excited.....could have also had something to do with some of those meds ;) They started the c-section just after 8:30am and Olivia Reese was born at 8:43am.....all 6lbs 7oz and 19in of her tiny little self.....

(6lbs 7oz 19inches....tiny little peanut)

She is here. She is perfect. We are in love all over again.

And these two babies make our lives complete.

Liam Riley Wilson Buggy Bear

Dear Liam,
Tonight is officially the last night that you will go to sleep as our only baby. Tomorrow is the big day, and Olivia will be here! If I'm being honest, your Mommy is a little bit emotional today. The past 2 1/2 years with you have been the best years your Daddy and my life. Like most new parents, we had absolutely no idea what to expect before you were born. We though we knew, but once you were here it was a whole different story. We fell more in love with you than we ever thought possible. Daddy and I say all the time that we can't even remember what our lives were like before you were here...and why would we even want to. I'm sure the same thing will happen once Olivia is here, and we are a family of four. It will be hard to remember what our lives were like when we were just 3.....Daddy will be mad if I don't include the dogs...so we will officially be a family of 6 :) But I always want you to know that we have loved this time with just you more that you will ever know. You have taught us so much already, and I know that we will keep learninig from you as you grow. You are turning into the sweetest little boy and I feel so lucky to be able to call myself your Mommy. Everyone has asked us if you are excited to be a big brother, and honestly I usually just tell them that you think you are :) I guess we won't really know for sure until Olivia gets here. Most of the time when you talk about her, you seem to be so excited. You love telling people that you are going to be a big brother. It's one of my favorite things. The other day I asked you what you would do if Olivia was crying and you said, "I'll hug her." Then last night, I asked you again and you said "I'll chomp her up like an alligator." Haha! So I guess the verdict is still out, and we'll just have to see how well you like her when she is here. I know that you are going to be the best big brother to Olivia, and I honestly can't wait to see the two of you together. So get ready big boy, because everything is about to change. I'm sure it will be an adjustment for all of us at first, but I know that before we know it, everything will fall into place. Daddy and I both want you to know that we love you so so much. You will always be our first baby, and a piece of our hearts will always be just for you. Sleep tight sweet baby boy....tomorrow is a big day for all of us.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Updates.....

I have been terrible about updating the blog lately, but we have been SO BUSY around here. Between preparing the house for Olivia, and spending as much time as we can with Liam, there just hasn't been time for much else. But we have been productive :)

We are pretty amazed at how well Liam has done with potty training. It's been about 2 months now, and I can honestly say that he has been pretty much fully potty trained for most of that time. Don't get me wrong, the first few days were really tough on both of us....he must have peed on the floor at least 15 times (thank God for hardwoods!!) but every day he got a little better. We had a long 4 day weekend that week, and by the time he went back to school he just about had it. We had him in big boy underwear during the day and pull ups for bedtime, but he decided he was over the pull ups after a few weeks. So about a month ago we started putting him to bed in his big boy underwear and he hasn't had one accident yet. (knock on wood!) He has had a few regressions here and there, but the little guy is doing awesome. And there is just something so so cute about a little boy in his big boy underwear!

This pregnancy is flying by so fast! Here is a few belly pics....the first is just about 37 weeks, and the second almost 40! It's funny how different this pregnancy has been compared to Liam's. With him, I was never really uncomfortable at all. Towards the end, I had this weird nerve thing in my back, but it really wasn' t that bad. This time, Olivia is SO low it's hard to walk...and a lot of the time when she moves now, it almost takes my breath away. I guess because Liam was breech, he just didn't have the room to move like she does, but she has dance parties all the time! It's hard to believe she is going to be here in just a few days!!

We finally finished Olivia's nursery, and I am completly in love with how it turned out!

Liam and Olivia share a Jack and Jill bathroom and I've been going crazy trying to find something that wasn't too boyish, or too girly, and not too crazy with the themes. I found these whales at Target and I think they are perfect. Michelle took the towels for me and had them embroidered. It turned out just how I wanted.

The house is all ready now....all we need is a BABY!!!
